A bicycle suitability system was adopted assigning each segment of state roadway one of five classifications, ranging from most suitable to least suitable. A road segment's suitability is based on its traffic volumes, measured in Average Daily Traffic, and shoulder width. Generally, the suitability of a segment increases with wider shoulders and lower traffic volumes. The table left displays the suitability matrix.
